RCS celebrates different cultures in style

Robert Carruthers School (RCS) kicked Heritage Month off with Cultural Day last week.

Parents and children of different cultures came together at the school on September 2 to celebrate Cultural Day.

The school was full of stalls displaying bright colors and interesting cultural food and items.

Parents happily assisted their children in handing out tasty cultural dishes to fellow parents and peers.
The atmosphere beamed with pride and smiles for each culture represented.

Each stall had samples of dishes unique to each represented culture, from ‘melkkos’ to samoosas and baklava.
Colorful posters containing information about each culture were displayed, and some parents and children proudly wore bright traditional clothes.

“Cultural Day at RCS is a great experience. It not only teaches our children about cultural diversity but also to respect and understand each other’s differences,” said one of the parents, Sharon Strydom.

As said by the poet William Cowper, “variety is the very spice of life, that gives it all its flavor.” RCS certainly brought the spice with its Cultural Day.
