No business is too big or too small for today’s robbers

The shop stood no chance against the robbers.

Small businesses like residential tuck-shops are very important for the economy. They can also be very convenient, and you might find a special or two.

Working hard to make such a small business growth can be all for nothing when being robbed.

One such business owner was an unsuspecting victim of an armed robbery.

It is alleged that on October 28 in the evening hours the tuck shop was open for business when one unknown male entered the premises.

According to the victim, the man was armed. The man insisted that the victim lay on the ground while threatening to shoot him.

As soon as the victim was on the ground, a second man entered the shop.

An armed security guard happened to be present but was robbed of his firearm by the second robber. An undisclosed amount of cash has been taken.

The victim’s cell phone and cigarettes were also stolen. A case of armed robbery has been opened by the victim at the Witbank Police Station.

Luckily, nobody was harmed.

According to the police, two suspects have been arrested.

Captain Eddie Hall, police spokesperson for the Witbank Police, gave some tips for business owners on how to prevent robberies from taking place:

“Do not keep too much money on the business premises. Always be on the lookout for suspicious customers. Do not keep the shop open till late and avoid being alone, especially at night. Business owners must not open for anyone after business hours,” Hall said.
