Thungela recently handed over waste management facilities to Emalahleni Local Municipality to service the Reyno Ridge and Schoongezicht communities.

The handover of these social and labour plan projects represents years of planning and preparation to address the waste management challenges faced in these communities.

Thungela partnered with the eMalahleni Local Municipality to address illegal dumping in line with their waste management strategy.

The mini waste transfer stations address the health and environmental hazards posed by illegal dumping of waste, thus improving the waste management system important for the health of the community and the environment.

Emalahleni Local Municipality plans to establish self-subsistent enterprises to address waste collection challenges by providing these services on behalf of the municipalities, making these projects sustainable for years to come.
