The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, has strongly condemned an incident in which a 46-year-old woman was shot and killed in Pine Ridge.

The incident is still under investigation, but police said they cannot rule out that the incident could be related to domestic violence.

It is believed that the couple was separated and that the woman was shot when she was collecting some items from the house on Sunday, December 4 at around 20:40.

The suspect is said to have fled the scene shortly after the shooting.

Upon arrival at the scene, police found the lifeless body of the woman in the bedroom.

It appeared she has been shot.

A murder case was opened, and it is being investigated.

The police are in pursuit of a suspect.

Manamela further made a clarion call to couples as well as to the public, in general, to refrain from using violence in resolving disputes. “Life and challenges are inseparable. It is advisable to seek professional help whenever one undergoes life challenges in relationships. Violence can never be an alternative.”
