Four alleged police station robbers arrested in eMalahleni

The suspects were caught after information was received that they were driving around in eMalahleni.

The long arm of the law will always catch up to you.

This was again proved yesterday when police caught up with four suspects 100km away from the police station they are suspected of robbing.

According to Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, provincial police spokesperson the men allegedly robbed Kwaggafontein Police Station.

“Police gathered information and assembled a dedicated team comprising of Witbank Crime Prevention, Tracking Team and Middelburg Flying Squad who made the arrest,” Mohlala said.

The suspects were intercepted whilst driving a Silver Hyundai i20 in eMalahleni on January 20.

According to police, two unlicensed firearms with serial numbers filed off and live ammunition were recovered.

“In addition to the firearms and ammunition, an undisclosed amount of cash and flavoured tobacco were found in their possession. The recovered items are believed to have been acquired through a business robbery in the area.”

The firearms, ammunition, vehicle, cash, and tobacco were all confiscated as evidence for further investigation.

The suspects are expected to appear before Witbank Magistrate’s Court on Monday, January, 23.
