Thief stopped in his tracks after being arrested for possession of a suspected stolen vehicle

Thieves will do well to slow down the engines of their crime vehicles after a 44-year-old male was arrested in the driver's seat in Schönland Drive near Vosman for possessing a suspected stolen vehicle.

There is no stop sign in the way of Mpumalanga’s law enforcement when conquering motor vehicle theft.

This follows the arrest of a 44-year-old male in Schönland Drive near Vosman for possession of a suspected stolen Ford Ranger.

An enquiry was opened in Protea Glen in Gauteng yesterday, February 15, regarding the vehicle and information was gathered by Middelburg Flying Squad and the Tracking Company.

This information was shared with SAPS members, and a joint sting operation between the police and a car tracking company was conducted.

The vehicle was spotted and the alleged thief was stopped in his tracks, arrested and the vehicle seized.

The man was arrested and is expected to appear before Witbank Magistrate’s Court.

The Provincial Commissioner of SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, has welcomed the arrest as well as the recovery of the vehicle.
