KwaGuqa soccer coach back in court today on child sexual offense charges

The coach is facing sexual offense charges involving five minor boys who were reportedly entrusted to his care.

The KwaGuqa soccer coach facing five sexual offense charges involving minor boys is expected to appear in the eMalahleni Magistrate’s Court today.

This comes after his case was postponed on August 27 for a competency report. The accused – who previously abandoned his bail application following the addition of new charges – faces a total of five counts: three counts of rape and two of sexual assault involving minor boys.

He has remained behind bars as investigations into his case continue.Gender-Based Violence (GBV) activist and All Voices Matter founder Abongile Mcoki previously appealed for the court processes to be expedited so that justice can be served.

“While we respect the court process, we are concerned about the delays for the victims. We appeal for the report to be fast-tracked so that the trial can begin and justice can be served,” Mcoki said.

According to parents of the victims, the children – who are all aged 15 or younger – were staying at a clubhouse in KwaGuqa managed by the accused when the alleged incidents occurred.
