Local schools are producing champions on the athletics field
It was all business on the field at this year's Athletics Championship.
Our city is proud to produce our very own champions on the sports field.
Three athletes recently took part in the South African Athletics Championships in Pietermaritzburg on March 19 to 21.
Thokozani Kachelenga from Laerskool Klipfontein received third place in long jump with 4.81m and also received a silver medal in the high jump with 1.50m.
His coach, Xander Hall could not help but celebrate with Thokozani.
Thokozani also took part in the relay u.11 event and the team came in fifth position.
Tsakile Bila from Laerskool Duvhapark also made his school proud.

Tsakile took part in three events ‒ hurdles, long jump and relay.
In the hurdles event Tsakile came in fourth, and in the long jump he got a well-deserved seventh place, and in the relay event, the team came in sixth place.

The school principal, Ms Maria Nekhudzhiga said that the school is very proud of Tsakile’s achievements.
Vinelle Kaufman from Laerskool Kragbron also received fourth place for athletics at the event.
