Woman allegedly raped by ‘helpful’ neighbour
The victim said that at around 04:00 in the morning, her alleged attacker started to touch and kiss her and then proceeded to rape her.
A rape victim claimed that her attacker was her neighbour, who led her to believe that he will assist her with a job and accompany her to her father’s residence.
On April 14 in the evening hours, the suspect phoned the victim and asked to meet her and she agreed.
According to the victim, her alleged attacker took her for pizza and burgers, and the pair stopped at a pub afterwards.
Whilst at the pub, the victim said that she waited in the car while the man went inside the pub. Upon coming out of the pub, the victim noticed that the man was intoxicated.
The victim claims that after they were at the pub, the assailant stopped under a few trees and in-between bushes.
The victim said that at around 04:00 in the morning, her alleged attacker started to touch and kiss her and then allegedly raped her.
The victim claims that after the incident, her attacker took her home.
According to Witbank Police spokesperson, Captain Eddie Hall, people are urged to report rape and to help others to report rape.
“Do not protect rapists – do not hide them in your home or community – tell the police about them. Bring up your boys to be real men because real men respect women and real men do not rape,” said Hall.
Witbank crime statistics showed that the number of rape cases has decreased as cases in April 2022 were four compared to April 2023 that only has two. But that number only represents reported cases.
