Choirs from all over the city and neighbouring towns were invited to show off their talent at the recent Hoërskool Generaal Hertzog School Choir Festival.
On May 16 and 17 schools were invited to fill the hall with melody and music.
Schools included Laerskool Middelburg, Curro Bankenveld, Curro Secunda, and Hoërskool Patriot to mention a few. Curro Bankenveld sang their rendition of ‘Thula Baba’ and ‘Purify my soul’.

Hoërskool Generaal Hertzog, the hosts of the event, also entered their very own A Capella group led by Mia Boswell. They were the only group of their kind taking part and making music only using their voices.
The group stunned the auditorium with their renditions of ‘Jeronimo,’ ‘Pluto,’ ‘Abalelele,’ ‘Tender Love’ and ‘Toxic’.
The organiser, Elmarie Botha said that the two-day event has been a pleasure and that it has been great to see the support from the schools and parents cheering their children on.
“It has been a very successful event and we would like to thank everyone who attended and made the event special,” concluded Elmarie.
