Community gearing up to search for missing elderly man

A search party is getting ready to look for 80-year-old Jeff Clapperton tomorrow morning.

There are new leads in the search for 80-year-old Jeff Clapperton.

His car was found nearly 20km outside eMalahleni on a farm road turning off the Zaaihoek Road.

According to Piet Wassenaar from Presidio Security Clapperton’s car is stuck in sand on a dirt road.

“The car has been seen there since Sunday, July 16,” Wassenaar said. He said the police dog unit searched the entire area but found nothing this afternoon.

“We are continuing the search tomorrow morning. If anyone is available to assist in the search they can meet up with the search party at 08:00 at the Puma Garage on the Old Middelburg Road,” said Wassenaar.

He added that the road is not in good condition and advised that people use bakkies. He asked that anyone that can assist with a drone contact him on 082 870 4124.
