eMalahleni's elderly residents had hot soup and had their blood pressure and sugar levels checked. Blankets were distributed to them.

They came in taxis and some in cars shivering during a cold Saturday morning, but at the end of the day, they went home wrapped in warm blankets after receiving a cup of hot soup.

Care-West founder Steve ‘West’ Luvuno said they initiated the blanket drive to show their love, support and care for the elderly people while they are still alive.

“This is one way to show appreciation to our elderly people and thank them as well with the donated items we have managed to have for them. We want to show our love while they are still alive with the initiative theme: ‘Now or never, let’s help each other.’ All the stakeholders play an important role for the good initiative to succeed,” said Luvuno.

The elderly were presented with blankets, received hot soup and had their blood pressure and sugar levels checked. They were also advised on diets and other related health issues.
