World Aids Day commemorated at Phola Clinic

With the increasing drug use posing a threat, the injections the addicts are using are causing the infection rate to climb.

Phola Clinic recently conducted a World AIDS Day commemoration, where Ndabezitha Sipho Sombali Mahlangu of SoGutjhe Royal House delivered a powerful message emphasising the continued fight against HIV/AIDS.

Glencore contributed to the cause by supporting the community-driven initiative on Friday, December 1.

“We have done so well as a country in the fight against HIV, but it is not over,” said Mahlangu.

The theme for 2023, “Let Communities Lead,” continued throughout Mahlangu’s words, emphasising the critical role of traditional authority in tackling HIV/AIDS.

“We stand united in our determination to comfort this global health crisis and work towards a future free of the burden of HIV/AIDS,” Mahlangu said.

A candle lighting ceremony was held for those who succumbed to AIDS, TB, COVID-19 and victims of GBV.

He concluded, “With the increasing drug use posing a threat, the injections the addicts are using are causing the infection rate to climb. We have to unite and fight against this as communities.”
