The right pair of shoes can change your life

eMalahleni Youth Against Substance Abuse (EYASA) in partnership with Glencore donate more shoes

Learners at Moruti Makuse Primary School and Mapule Sindane Primary School were the proud recipients of another donation by eMalahleni Youth Against Substance Abuse (EYASA) in partnership with Glencore mine as part of their #EYASA making education fashionable program.

The schools which are located in Ext 2 Zone 14 have many learners who come from low income families, child headed homes or live with grandparents who are pensioners.

Happy students with their shoes.

On Tuesday, March 19, smiles were once again put on children’s faces when they were given brand new shiny school shoes –hopefully preparing them to take big steps in their future successes.

The EYASA and Glencore teams were accompanied by Ward 7 councillor, Rudolph Nani.

As an organisation they find education to be of the utmost importance as part of a child’s foundation when growing up.

They aim to eradicate children missing school because of lack of uniforms, stationery, shoes or sanitary pads.

They make donations annually to schools to keep students in class and uplift the community.

“It is a devastating feeling to discover where most of these kids come from child headed homes and some raised by their grandparents but it’s an overwhelming and fulfilling feeling to see their smiles ours is to make sure no child drops out of school because of basic needs like shoes, Sanitary pads or stationery and that alone is the best feeling to give and plough back in our community with Glencore. I feel blessed to be a blessing honestly,” said Crosswell Libazi the director and chairperson for EYASA NPO.
