Their next court appearance has been scheduled for May 22.

There was insufficient evidence to oppose their bail for the following reasons; the accused would not be a danger to the community, there was no evidence that they would commit a schedule one crime, they have no previous convictions or pending cases, they are not a flight risk, as they have strong ties to the community.
The apostle is a Zimbabwean but was granted a permanent residency in South Africa. There is no risk of them destroying or concealing evidence, as all evidence seized during their arrests is currently in the possession of SAPS.

They were warned not to have any contact with the victim, Dumisani Mahlangu.

No false information was furnished to the police during their arrests. They have no outstanding warrants and neither of the accused is on parole for previous crimes.
Conditions of their bail which are enforced until the completion of their trial are, the accused are to report to SAPS every Monday and Friday, they are to make no contact with the victim, they must reside at the address given to SAPS, they are to inform the court before moving in the event of changing their residence, they are not to leave the borders of South Africa or make any applications for travel documents and finally they are to surrender all passports and travel documents to SAPS within 24 hours of their release on bail.
