Locals call for support in community fundraiser for orphans and underprivileged
Through the initiative, the host aims to bring hope and joy to children who are less privileged in areas such as Phola and the wider eMalahleni.
A group of young local entrepreneurs, led by Tilton Dlamini, founder of a multimedia company, is calling on the community to join hands in supporting an initiative designed to bring joy and hope to the less fortunate children during the upcoming school holidays.
The team is currently planning a special Fun Day at Mpumelelo Day Care and Pre-School in Phola where children will enjoy swimming games, puppet shows, face painting, music, and entertainment.
“Children will also receive party packs, and the organisers hope to provide toys and other gifts to make the occasion even more meaningful,” Dlamini said.
He further emphasised that every moment will be captured to celebrate the event’s impact.
Beyond fun, the initiative carries an educational purpose. A social worker will be present to guide and encourage the children through age-appropriate sessions that promote emotional well-being, personal development, and hope for the future.
The event is strengthened by the compassion of Sibongile Sindane, founder of Mpumelelo Day Care and Pre-School, who will lead a feeding programme to ensure every child receives a warm, nutritious meal. Adding further inspiration, respected community leader Reginald Guwata will attend as guest speaker to motivate the children and all participants.

While planning is underway and some sponsors have already pledged their support, the organisers stress that more help is needed. Individuals, businesses, and organisations are warmly invited to contribute – whether through donations, sponsorships, or acts of kindness.
“We don’t need much because we already have a few resources. However, we’re urging those who can to just lend a helping hand with whatever they can offer,” he said.
Dlamini noted that every contribution, no matter the size, will help create a day filled with smiles, hope, and lasting memories for children who deserve to experience the joy of simply being children.
