No arrests for minors’ abduction and rape since last year

‘There have been no arrests in cases involving minors dating back to last year, but the investigation is still ongoing, and we are asking the public for assistance’

Since last year, no arrests have been made in cases involving minor abduction and rape in KwaGuqa Extensions, and Vosman continues to face the threat, as two children aged seven and nine recently did.

Colonel Donald Mdhluli, provincial police spokesperson, said, “There have been no arrests in cases involving minors dating back to last year, but the investigation is still ongoing, and we are asking the public for assistance.”

According to police report, the two girls went missing on Saturday, March 30 from their parents’ home in Vosman.

The story broke after the parents of these children were unable to locate them after they went playing.

They then contacted the police, who established a missing person’s file for inquiry.

A search for the victims intensified, but with little success. On Sunday, March 31, Phola Police Station reported that the victims had been found, but they had both allegedly been raped.

“Emanating from this evil act, the Police’s Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit were assigned to probe this horrific incident. A request is therefore made for the community to come forward with valuable information that may share light in this investigation,” added Colonel Mdhluli.

Anyone who wishes to provide concrete assistance is kindly asked to contact Sergeant Zinhle Mathenjwa of the FCS Unit at 072 792 0691. Members of the public can also contact Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or provide tips through MYSAPSAPP. All received information will be kept strictly confidential, and callers may choose to remain anonymous.
