Local artist, nominated for the recognised Mzansi Paintings and Media Awards, shares his passion for art.

Oupa Mtau’s love affair with art began at a tender age, sketching cartoons and comics in his childhood home in eMalahleni.

 

Today, the 21-year-old artist is making waves in the industry, inspiring countless young people with his talent and dedication.

Oupa’s grandmother, who raised him, saw his talent and supported him to further his abilities. He eventually honed his artistic abilities at Kopanong Secondary School, receiving influence from well-known artists.

His paintings garnered recognition because of his diligence and perseverance, and he was nominated for the recognised Mzansi Paintings and Media Awards. Celebrities and artists alike have admired his distinct style and talent.

But Oupa’s success is not just about him; it’s about the impact he has on his community. He teaches art classes to underprivileged children, sharing his skills and inspiring a new generation of artists, “I want my story to show that anything is possible with hard work and dedication,” Oupa says.
