Woman narrowly escapes rape during Old Coronation home invasion

Home invasion leaves Old Coronation resident traumatised.

Four masked suspects allegedly broke into Ntombifuthi Ndlovu’s home in the generally peaceful neighbourhood of Old Coronation, shattering the sense of security.

The incident occurred on Monday, August 26 around 18:00.

According to Ndlovu, she was in her bedroom after work, trying to rest a bit, when four suspects allegedly stormed into her home, demanding the keys to a motorbike and various documents related to the motorbike.

“I was with my brother-in-law when these suspects entered the house. They took my cellphone and my brother-in-law’s,” said Ndlovu.

In a disturbing turn of events, one of the suspects allegedly attempted to rape Ndlovu but was stopped by another suspect who intervened.

“I was so scared thinking they would murder me, and it was late.

I was also terrified that if I called for help, they would kill me. One of them also wanted to rape me but was stopped by one of the suspects who told me they should leave me, they got all they wanted,” she said.

As the police are investigating this incident and working to arrest the suspects, they are urging the community to remain cautious and report any suspicious activity to the police.

Captain Eddie Hall from Witbank Police concluded by giving these tips:

“Always be on the lookout for suspicious persons and vehicles, enhance security through fitting access doors with security gates, and install burglar bars on the windows. Request neighbours to keep an eye when you go away for an extended period.

Do not open gates and doors for strangers, verify the details of anyone before you employ them, and check the authenticity of a contractor before you allow access to the premises.”
