Witbank falls short against Middelburg despite valiant effort

HTS Middelburg clinch win in last-ball thriller

HTS Middelburg secured a convincing 85-run victory over HTS Witbank in a thrilling cricket match.

The game took place on Thursday, August 15, and Middelburg set the tone with a dominant first innings score of 258-2, leaving Witbank with a daunting task.

However, Witbank’s cricketers demonstrated incredible persistence and grit, with Danika Gloy leading the way.

Danika’s magnificent 78 runs provided the backbone of Witbank’s counterattack, which eventually reached 174-1.

Despite the loss, HTS Witbank cricket coach René Venter hailed the performance as a success, “We exceeded our target and played our hearts out, beaming with pride. I am incredibly proud of the team’s effort and spirit.”

The match displayed both teams’ talent and determination, with Middelburg’s triumph demonstrating their excellent form.

HTS Witbank, on the other hand, will be encouraged by their bold performance and hope to build on it in future encounters.
