A man’s ordinary day took a dark and frightening turn as hijackers struck, allegedly leaving the complainant battered, robbed, and desperately seeking escape.
According to the police reports, on Tuesday, October 8, the complainant alleged that he was driving his company vehicle at Bethal Road to Johannesburg when a white VW Polo drove in front of him, forcing him to stop while another vehicle blocked him from behind.

The complainant further added that it was four suspects who allegedly forced him out of his car, blindfolded and searched him, taking his bank card and demanding the PIN.

The suspects allegedly drove with the complainant while allegedly assaulting and hitting him with a firearm and dropped him in an open veld, where he was later assisted by a community member after the suspects fled the scene.

The community member then took the complainant to the nearest police station for assistance.

“SAPS Witbank urges the community to be vigilant when travelling in their vehicles and to avoid hijacking hotspots as far as possible. Carjackers are becoming more violent and will use the necessary force to take your vehicle,” said police spokesperson, Captain Eddie Hall.

This is still an ongoing case, as police are investigating.
