Emalahleni Municipality cracks down on non-compliance with Operation Dlala Indima Yakho

Emalahleni Municipality means business: Operation Dlala Indima Yakho yields results.

The Emalahleni Local Municipality launched a comprehensive enforcement operation, Operation Dlala Indima Yakho, to ensure compliance with various regulations in the area.

The operation on Wednesday, November 7, led by Executive Mayor Vusi Nhlapho and members of the Mayoral Committee, targeted local restaurants, supermarkets, and businesses.

The operation began with a traffic roadblock along OR Tambo Road, focusing on road traffic regulations.

Some of the biscuits found were eaten by cats during the operation on Wednesday, November 6. (Supplied).

Subsequent inspections in the CBD assessed compliance across local establishments.

Inspectors uncovered several concerning issues: Unsafe staircases and lack of ventilation, animals inside premises, creating unsanitary conditions, the absence of essential compliance certifications, non-compliant fire extinguishers and unsealed equipment, expired goods, and illegal electrical connections posing fire hazards.

All non-compliant businesses were issued fines and required to pay penalties promptly to address the violations.
