Shoplifting on the rise in Vosman

The Station Commander of Vosman Police Station, Brigadier Lindani Ndlovu, has raised concerns over the rising cases of shoplifting in the community.

Vosman Police Station Commander Brigadier Lindani Ndlovu warns of rising shoplifting cases.

Between November 10 and 7, six arrested suspects faced shoplifting charges.

Ndlovu stressed that shoplifting has severe consequences, resulting in a lasting criminal record, “A criminal record stays for a long time on someone’s file and may render them unemployable, which ultimately affects families, especially children,” he said.

As the festive season approaches, Ndlovu called shop owners to enhance security measures to curb shoplifting.

Among the other arrests made during the week were individuals charged with serious offences, including murder, attempted murder, sexual assault, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and drunk driving.

Additional charges included robbery, malicious property damage, selling liquor without a license, and violating protection orders.

Ndlovu expressed concern about protection order violations, urging individuals to respect court directives, “When the court warns an individual not to infringe on another’s rights, it must be respected. Violations will result in criminal records,” he said.
