iKunz aka Gwazana (Que) takes centre stage

iKunz aka Gwazana (Que) music reflects this heritage, blending traditional Ndebele sounds with modern electronic elements.

iKunz aka Gwazana (Que) Skosana, (19), is making a name for himself in the music industry.

Growing up in eMalahleni, iKunz was surrounded by the rich cultural heritage of his community. His music reflects this heritage, blending traditional Ndebele sounds with modern electronic elements.

“My cultural heritage influences my music, connecting me to my roots. Family encouragement and support nurtured my creative expression, allowing me to explore music as a career,” said iKunz.

His artistic style blends electronic guitar elements, Ndebele traditional sounds, Afro Pop, RnB, Afro Piano, African (Iskhethu), and Melodic Trap. His music often features vibrant colours, abstract patterns, and emotive portraits (umgwalo).

“I explore themes of self-discovery and empowerment, encouraging listeners to embrace their individuality. I also address social justice and environmental awareness, using art as a platform for activism,” he said.

iKunz cites artists such as Sjava, Isumi Lamadoda, Emtee, and Lilow Ntk as influencers. He is currently working on a new mixtape, set to drop next year in January.

“Success to me is measured by the impact and engagement my work generates with audiences. I hope to leave a legacy that inspires future generations of artists to push boundaries and challenge the status quo,” he concluded.
