Armed robbery hits local shopping centre’s clothing store

Armed robbers dressed as cops strike a local shopping centre’s clothing store.

An armed robbery hit a clothing store at a local shopping centre. According to reports on Thursday, January 16, at around 17:00, three suspects approached the store’s entrance, claiming to be police officers. One of the suspects was dressed in a police uniform. The suspects informed the staff that they were concerned about a person drinking at the entrance and insisted on checking the store’s video footage. They then forced the manager into the office and compelled him to open the safe, which contained new, sealed cellphones. The exact number of stolen cellphones is still unknown. The suspects fled in a silver-gray Mazda sedan.

Shopper Annatjie Du Toit recounted her harrowing experience, stating that she was trapped inside the centre for nearly half an hour, waiting for the gates of the centre to be opened.

The police are investigating the armed robbery.
