Young mom and BMW driver still in hospital

The accident on Mandela Road had a terrible turn for the young mom.

The young mom who was in the horrible accident on Mandela Road at the beginning of the year has a long road to recovery ahead.

Chances are that she will never lead a normal life again.

Judy Scheepers’ sister, Virichka Radyn, said doctors did an MRI scan and the damage is much more than they anticipated.

“My sister is literally going to be a child for the rest of her life,” Radyn said.

According to Radyn, doctors established that Scheepers’ vocal cords are damaged, her left arm is paralysed, she has long and short-term memory loss, and she will never be able to eat and drink normally again.

She will be spending a week at home to see if there is any improvement when she is around her family.

She will also be undergoing three months of rehab.

“This is our reality. We have to accept …,” Radyn said.

BMW driver still in hospital

Mahlomola Motaung, who was also involved in the accident, is still in hospital.

His wife, Mumcy Masango, said he is doing better.

“It has been more than a month since the accident. So much has happened since the accident. Our prayers are with Judy and her family,” Masango said.
Motaung was on his way to buy water from Pick n Pay when, on January 2, he was involved in the crash at the traffic lights at River Crescent Shopping Centre.

Scheepers and Jaco Greyling, a tow truck driver, were on their way to assist at another accident when they were involved in a devastating crash with a BMW.

Greyling sustained minor injuries.
