Suspect in heinous crimes remains in custody

The 39-year-old man accused of a string of heinous crimes, including kidnapping, assault, and rape, has forfeited his bail application and will remain in custody until his next court appearance.
The suspect, who is linked to multiple cases involving minors, appeared before the Witbank Magistrate’s Court on February 3, where he was expected to make a formal bail application.
However, the suspect forfeited his bail and the court remanded him in custody until April 2.
The decision was welcomed by the community, who had gathered outside the court to show support for the victims and their families.
The Kwanele Mama Foundation, which has been advocating for justice in the case, was also present in court.

The court has indicated that these cases will be combined into one, and the suspect is also facing a pending case of assault and rape at the eMalahleni Regional Court, which is set to resume on February 17.
