Local councillor stabbed in Lynnville

“The police are investigating the incident, and a suspect has been identified,” said Captain Vusi Mnisi from Vosman SAPS.

A local councillor was stabbed on Moshoeshoe Street at Lynnville.

Clr Sizwe Mathebula from ward 17, was stabbed on February 8, at around 21:20.

Mathebula and a friend were returning from a funeral when the unfortunate incident happened.

An altercation ensued during which Mathebula was stabbed with a sharp object on the left side abdomen.

“Please let us give the councillor time to recover well home. We will update Witbank News, as soon as he feels better,” said Lebo Mofokeng, manager of communications from Emalahleni Local Municipality.

Police are investigating the case.
