Trash is turning eMalahleni into a dump

Do you have an illegal dumping site in your area?

Illegal dumping is an ongoing problem in the once beautiful City of Coal.

WITBANK NEWS drove through eMalahleni and found illegal dumping sites in nearly all the wards.
In recent years the municipality often cited that there are more than 350 illegal dumping spots which are cleaned on regular basis but not sustained.

Residents dump their rubbish because the municipality can’t keep to their refuse removal schedules.

Their excuses are as always – an old fleet,  the current refuse collection fleet overstretched above its designed manufacturer’s scope in that each vehicle is expected to collect far more than they are designed to collect, budget restraints, and of course, Mother Nature also gets the blame.

Emalahleni is #Gatvol of the dirty city.

Share your ideas on how to streamline the refuse collection in eMalahleni and stop illegal dumping.
