A burning truck on the highway showed how the Emalahleni community can come together in a crisis

The area is safe, and the road will be opened shortly after a burning truck carrying paraffin made a stop on the highway.

A tanker carrying paraffin caused a lot of consternation earlier tonight when it was noticed on the N12/N4 split with flames coming from its rear.

Moments after it was called in over Zello, responders closed the road, and a safety evacuation plan was in process.

TRAC and the fire department were dispatched.

It was feared that the tanker could explode.

Luckily the fire burnt out by itself.

It was found that the truck’s back tyres caught fire.

A special shout-out goes to Gene Jacobs from Legacy Emergency Services, Annemarie Bouwer from SACCW, and all the responders who immediately took charge and made the necessary arrangements to make the area safe.

The road will be opened shortly.
