3 rape cases in 24 hours reported in eMalahleni

The police warn women against high consumption of alcohol.

After noticing a significant surge in rape cases around eMalahleni, the police urge ladies to limit their consumption of alcohol to avoid falling victim.

Police spokesperson Captain Eddie Hall said, “Ladies are warned not to drink so much liquor as they are seen as soft targets.”

According to police reports, a woman alleged that on March 29 around 20:30, she was at a local dam with her family and friends, where they celebrated her birthday.

She reported that she got drunk and was accompanied by her fiancé to a tent where she would rest, but was sadly awoken by a man who allegedly undressed her and forced himself on her.

“To her shock, the man turned out to be someone she was close to, but he fled as she screamed for help,” Hall said.

On the same day around the same time, police said a trip to a shop turned into a nightmare for a woman who visited relatives.

On her way to the shop, she was allegedly attacked by an unknown man who threatened her with a firearm.

She reported that the man took her to his room, where he allegedly raped her.

Similarly, another incident is reported to have occurred on March 30 around 01:00.

According to reports, a woman alleged that she was at a tavern with her friend and when she needed to visit the toilet she was allegedly raped by a group of men.
