Emalahleni Municipality held the council sitting in Ackerville to promote transparency and accountability.

Emalahleni Local Municipality held a council sitting in Kwa-Thomas Mahlanguville (Ackerville) as part of its efforts to promote transparency and accountability.

The meeting, attended by Executive Mayor Clr Vusi Nhlapho, Speaker of Council Clr Mduduzi Nkosi, Municipal Manager Sizwe Mayisela, and other officials, focused on discussing the oversight of the 2023/24 annual report.

According to Nhlapho, the municipality aims to take the council to the people, ensuring that community members understand how the council operates, “We need to rotate to all regions in Emalahleni, taking the initiative to the people.”

The council sitting, which took place on March 27, is part of the municipality’s efforts to engage with the community and promote participatory governance.

By holding meetings in different regions, the city hopes to increase transparency, accountability, and public participation in municipal matters.

Key issues discussed during the meeting included service delivery updates, budget allocations, and policy decisions.
