Police woman shot during ATM bombing in eMalahleni

Residents and motorists are advised to use alternative routes to avoid the area.

A section of Voortrekker Road in Extension 10 has been closed following an incident this morning in which a police officer was shot while responding to a robbery in progress.

The closure affects the stretch of road between the Christiaan de Wet and Hofmeyer intersections.

According to information received, the police officer was attending to a robbery call at a local filling station at Voortrekker when the incident occurred.  A bullet struck the officer.

The police woman was rushed to Life Cosmos Hospital.

Forensic teams are currently on the scene, collecting evidence and working to piece together the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Residents and motorists are advised to use alternative routes to avoid the area and minimise disruptions to their daily activities.
