Mayor asks MMCs to leave council meeting

The MMCs were asked to leave the council meeting this morning.

There was quite a bit of action at the Emalahleni Local Municipal Council meeting when the two MMCs suspected of extortion attended.

It was silent for a moment and then a commotion broke out when members of the EFF and the DA and members of the public voiced their anger at Clrs Busi Hlumbane and Jerry Dijana when they discovered they were in the meeting.

The Speaker, Clr Mduduzi Nkosi mentioned they were not attending as MMCs .

He said the investigating officer permitted them to attend the meeting.

This however did not sit well with the other parties and the public.

The Executive Mayor, Clr Vusi Nhlapo ordered the  MMCs out of the building.

Nhlapo said they needed written permission from the investigating officer to allow Hlumbane and Dijana back into the meeting.

The MMCs were released from their official duties last week after they were caught allegedly taking gratification for a rental lease to be extended.
