House robbery pandemic strikes Phola

It seems like house robbery is now a real thing in the City of Coal. Different parts of Phola are now targeted.

Recent house robbery incidents reported at the Phola Police Station have raised concerns about the residents’ safety.

It seems like a day can’t go by without a house falling a target of such an incident.
According to the Phola Police spokesperson, Sergeant Thabang Ntuli, house robbery is now at its peak and one of the most concerning crimes in the area.

Some of the highlighted incidents took place in a space of less than a week, where more than four households fell prey during late hours.

In the first incident, a man told the police that he was lying down when he heard the key sound at his dining room door, and he decided to check through the kitchen window to find out what was happening. He saw two men passing by the kitchen window, and that led him to open the dining room door.

To his surprise, the two men immediately got inside the house, allegedly pointing firearms at him. The man told police that they took his cellphone, bank card, covered his face, and allegedly took him to a shack where he was believed to be forced to provide his bank card PIN.

In the second incident, a woman told the police that she was sitting with her neighbour when two men entered her house, with one of them allegedly armed. The woman further told the police that the men demanded money from them. One of the men then shot the brother of the house owner in the shoulder. The duo fled the scene, allegedly with three phones.

Phola Police are urging residents to remain safe as they fight this pandemic.
