Sentencing of soccer coach convicted of sexual assault postponed
The coach reappeared at the eMalahleni Regional Court earlier today, where his sentencing was postponed.
The sentencing of soccer coach Sibusiso Gama, who was convicted of two counts of molesting teenage boys during soccer camps, has been postponed.
Gama reappeared at the eMalahleni Regional Court earlier today, where his sentencing was expected to take place.
However, due to the absence of the prosecutor representing the case, who is reportedly on sick leave, the sentencing was postponed to July 22.
The coach faced three charges, originating from incidents reported two years ago.
During his court appearance on June 24, he was acquitted of one charge related to an incident in September 2023.
However, the court found him guilty of the other two cases, which took place in mid-May of the same year.
According to testimonies, Gama targeted boys who were sleeping near him during overnight camps.
Parents of the victims continue to wait anxiously for the outcome.
