Day 1 shows good progress on water supply maintenance

Day one of the week-long water outage is done and dusted. WITBANK NEWS will keep readers in the loop with regular updates.

The week-long water outage has officially started this morning.

The Emalahleni Local Municipality shared some highlights of the day’s maintenance.

Work is underway on the distance piece replacement, and two butterfly valves on the raw water line feeding the plant are currently being replaced.

Point A Reservoir:

Both reservoirs are being cleaned to ensure improved water quality once the supply resumes.

Point B Reservoirs:

Two reservoirs are being cleaned. This point is directly linked to Point D, and the work must be completed simultaneously at both sites to ensure system functionality.

Concerns about the safety of teams working on the outage have been raised.

Over the weekend, some of the workers were attacked.

“Despite this, teams remain committed. We appeal to the community to assist in safeguarding both the infrastructure and the workers working to restore the water supply,” was the message from the municipality.

Further updates will be shared as the work progresses.
