Tyre thieves bring their own socket to remove lock nuts

Do you have any tips on how to keep your vehicle safe, please share it with us?

More and more reports are streaming in of tyre theft.

Lava Street and Sangiro Street were two hotspots earlier this week when thieves helped themselves zoned into the area.

These are not isolated incidents; it has become a significant problem, impacting vehicle owners all over the city.
The brazen nature of these thefts indicates that the thieves are very well organised.

One of the residents said the thieves have a special socket, a 24mm extractor socket, that is used to remove lock nuts on wheels.

The vehicles are stripped of all four tyres and popped up on bricks.

“Reporting any suspicious activity, no matter how small, can provide valuable information for police,” said local police spokesperson Captain Eddie Hall.

He urged residents to consider advanced security systems and park their vehicles in well-lit areas behind locked gates.
