Kwa-Guqa mom seeks help for son’s mysterious condition

The mom helplessly reaches out as her son’s condition deteriorates.

Nonhlanhla Maseko from Kwa-Guqa Extensions in eMalahleni is crying out for help with her 17-year-old son, who’s been struggling with ascites for years.

The mother said it all started as a minor flu in 2022, but they became troubled seeing his condition worsening with time and his stomach racing.

“We didn’t take it seriously at first, thinking it was just a potbelly, but surprisingly, no matter how hard he exercised, it just kept on racing,” Maseko said.

Though the teenager has been in and out of hospitals, with numerous tests run by specialists, the actual cause of the ascites still cannot be identified.

Recently, the concerned parent said they visited a local traditional healer, and though there seems to be improvement in her son’s condition, she does not have the money required to complete his healing journey.

“I have run out of options. I no longer know what to do because I have tried everything. Please help my son,” Maseko said, adding that she pleads with the community of eMalahleni to please assist in whatever way possible.
