Two fall target to vehicle theft over the weekend
No arrests were made with regard to the incidents and the vehicles remain not recovered.
Two vehicles, a Toyota Fortuner and a Big Boy bike were stolen within the city over the weekend.
In the first incident, the man told the police that he parked his motorbike at his brother’s place as he regarded it safer than his place. After a few days, he was notified that his motorbike was stolen allegedly after thieves had forcefully obtained entry into where it was parked. The incident occurred on August 28.
In the second incident, the man told the police that on August 30 he had parked his car outside a local school before entering the school’s premises. He further alleged that he came out of the school two hours later to find his car no longer where he had left it.
Witbank SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant David Ratau advised motorists to install two tracking devices and park their cars where there is a lot of foot movement and not in designated areas.
“Motorists should also consider using steering lockers whenever they park their vehicles. They should also make sure that they do not park in a distant area from other motorists to avoid car thefts,” said Ratau.
