Nkangala ECD women unite to celebrate and empower one another

Clr Conny Nkalitshana advised the ladies to focus on fixing their own crowns instead of trying to find fault in those of others.

The Nkangala Early Childhood Development (ECD) women ended Women’s Month in style, partaking in a memorable gathering in which they empowered and celebrated one another for the good work they continue to do.

On August 29, the Highveld ECD forum brought the ladies together for a vibrant celebration at a local hotel, where they shared stories and messages of hope, love, and encouragement among themselves.

Clr Conny Nkalitshana, the Chief Whip of the Nkangala District Municipality, who also graced the event with her presence and words of wisdom, reminded the women of their value and importance in society.

“This country would not survive and go where we want it to go without you women,” she said, further adding that though many parents have kids, the ECD educators are the ones who shape every child’s future.

“Our children wouldn’t make it to tertiary if you were not there to teach them how to hold a pencil,” she added.

Conny also advised the queens to focus their energy on fixing their own crowns instead of always trying to find fault in those of others.

“Women should stop looking at each other with jealousy and start practicing love,” she said, going on to challenge them to pray for mothers because they do not get to choose the kind of life their children will grow to live.

“Some parents have children facing robbery charges, rape, assault, some are even suffocating deep into drugs,” the chief whip said, adding, “Since most of the focus is always on the victim’s side, what happens to the woman who is mother to the perpetrator?”

The community activist encouraged the women in the event to always love and pray for each other, especially those mothers whose kids have grown to do bad things, because “no mother wishes for that.”

Sharon Montoeli from Seriti, who also spoke in the event, encouraged the women to continue doing the great work that they are doing because none of it goes unnoticed.

“Don’t underestimate the work that you’re doing because everything starts with you. Be encouraged and know that as Seriti, we will always be willing to support initiatives that will build and develop your centres,” she said.
