Klippies’ first-ever chess tournament rocks

The young ones gathered to show clever strategies and deep concentration as they battled it out on the chessboard.

This past weekend, Laerskool Klipfontein made history by hosting its first-ever chess tournament, which proved to be a resounding success.

Laerskool Klipfontein praised the efforts of the learners in making the tournament a reality.

Among the standout performers were Zian Earle from Grade 3, who secured an impressive second-place finish, and Donico Beukes from Grade 4, who claimed third place.

In Grade 7, both Hayden Gouws and Wihan Francis demonstrated remarkable perseverance, each earning a well-deserved second place in their category.

Oratile Mhaga, one of the youngest chess players in the school was also in attendance.

Laerskool Klipfontein looks forward to hosting many more chess events in the future, giving their learners more opportunities to grow, compete, and shine.
