Carjacking increases over the past weekend

Every day is carjacking day in eMalahleni.

A disturbing spike in carjacking incidents in eMalahleni has left a resident traumatised.

On the night of September 19, a man reported that while driving his white Honda Civic, he arrived at his residence.

He was busy opening his gate when four men in a blue Volkswagen Polo approached his vehicle.

They allegedly forced the driver’s door open, and the complainant got out of the vehicle.

It is alleged that one of the men was armed, and another punched him.

The unknown suspects got into the vehicle and drove off; no shots were fired.

Captain Eddie Hall, Witbank SAPS spokesperson, said, “Stay aware of your surroundings, keep vehicle doors locked and windows closed at all times, never leave your vehicle unlocked, even if stepping away momentarily, avoid stopping in remote or poorly populated areas.”
