Armed robberies take the streets of Kwa-Guqa in full force – SAPS urges locals to prioritise safety
Captain Vusi Mnisi urged locals to always be on the lookout as they walk and drive around the area at night.
As armed robbery takes on the streets of Kwa-Guqa extensions, specifically at night, the Vosman SAPS is calling on the public to take precautionary measures to protect themselves.
The measures included avoiding being on the streets at night.
“The number of armed robbery cases that were recently reported at the station is not looking good,” said the Vosman SAPS spokesperson, Captain Vusi Mnisi.
The recent armed robbery cases, which involved two people getting shot, injured, and robbed of their belongings, raised the police’s eyebrows even more.
In one of the incidents, a woman told the police that she was walking with her friend when a vehicle stopped next to them, and three armed men robbed her of some of her belongings before they turned to her boyfriend, who they shot in his leg.
The victim was taken to the local hospital, where he received medical attention.
In the second incident, where another victim was shot, a man told the police that he was standing next to a car with his friend when an armed man approached them from behind. The man further said his friend was shot twice.
“Criminals are taking advantage of people walking late at night, and those who stand next to cars at the roadsides or parking spaces. Therefore, if you would like to catch up with your friends or relatives, make sure it’s not on the streets,” said.
