Mpumalanga archers triumph at AGA

Mpumalanga archers rank amongst the best in the country.

Mpumalanga’s archery teams delivered a stellar performance at the Archery South Africa (AGA) Nationals.

The province’s archers competed fiercely against top teams from across the country, earning accolades in both individual and team events from October 7 to 11 in Polokwane.

The tournament kicked off with intense competition as provincial teams vied for top spots. Mpumalanga’s young archers, particularly the Cubs (Grades 2-3), set the tone by respectively clinching first, second, and third places in their different categories.

The Mpumalanga Primary team continued the momentum, securing an impressive third place overall in South Africa.

The Mpumalanga High School A team also shone brightly, finishing third in the nation.
However, the province’s proudest moment came when the Mpumalanga Development team was crowned national champions, claiming first place overall in South Africa.

This victory highlighted the strength and potential of the province’s up-and-coming archers.
A standout individual performance came from Zander Booysen, captain of the High School A team and archer from High School Hoogenhout in Bethal, who was crowned the 2025 National Champion in both Bull’s Eye (BE) and 3D combined events.

During the nationals, the AGA also hosted the inter-schools and clubs championships, where private clubs and school teams competed in Bull’s Eye and 3D formats. Mpumalanga’s teams continued to excel, showcasing their versatility and competitive spirit against strong opponents.
