Curro Bankenveld learners make a difference in eMalahleni with donation drive

The generous act not only moved the recipients but it also helped the learners to develop empathy and a stronger sense of community.

High school learners from Curro Bankenveld took the lead in spreading love and hope through several donations they made to schoolgoers and new mothers in eMalahleni.

Driven by the zeal to make a difference and carry on the school’s culture of giving back at least once each term, early this month, the learners handed over various donations that not only moved hearts but also made a significant difference.

Among the items donated were toiletries, hygiene products, and baby necessities for new mothers at a local health facility, as well as stationery donations to a local children’s home to assist the children in the upcoming school year.

“The aim was to lighten the burden on new moms who have to provide for both their babies and themselves in terms of hygiene and sanitary needs,” the organisers said.

The learners expressed a deep sense of pride and fulfilment in being part of the donation drive, also sharing that contributing genuinely to the cause that sought to benefit others helped them develop empathy and a stronger sense of community.

“We felt empowered knowing that our efforts could make a real difference in someone else’s life,” the learners said.

The donations were received with heartfelt gratitude and appreciation as the learners’ generosity and thoughtfulness touched not only the hearts of the recipients but every individual who witnessed the kind gesture.
