Rebel Troops throttle the silence in GBV with a rally

The rally brought together bikers for a special three-day event filled with love and fun.

eMalahleni saw a weekend to remember when the Rebel Troops MCC brought bikers from different countries and provinces for their three-day annual rally.

The rally made a special visit to a local charity home that supports victims of crime. The bikers painted the Witbank Dam leather, and the bikes’ sounds echoed the walls of the City of Coal.

For this year, the theme was ‘Throttle the silence for her’ under ‘No GBV’, and the bikers understood the assignment as they preached the theme throughout.

On Friday, October 17, the bikers marked their attendance in the register at the Witbank Dam, where they camped for two nights filled with fun and bonding.

On Saturday morning, they painted the streets of eMalahleni leather as they headed to the charity home where they made donations to the victims of crime.

“There are a lot of GBV cases where both genders are being targeted, so we decided to stand and be men who should lead by example and that’s the reason why we are getting the message out there as higher as possible that we should throttle the silence and fight GBV,” said the Rebel Troops president, Lebogang Phepeng, also known by his riding name ‘Old Oil’.

After completing the main task of the day, the bikers returned to the dam, where they spent the rest of the hours filled with laughter, fun, games, socializing, and other forms of entertainment.

“We came here all the way from KwaZulu-Natal to support our brothers as we have been supporting the Rebel Troops for years since they started with this task,” said Langa Gabela, Ibutho MCC deputy president. “Everything went as we had wished, especially the donation, and above it all, we are grateful for the opportunity to have gathered and shared words with our brothers and sisters,” Langa added.

According to Tsotso Thembani from the Rebel Troops, speaking on behalf of women in biking, they are not aiming to promote women in biking, but also to raise awareness in the public so that they can know that GBV is not needed.

The club’s charity desk representative, Vusi Sithole, with riding name ‘Malahleka,’ further emphasised that the donation was successful as they managed to donate the most needed items to those in need.

“Our bikers made the main point of the rally a success, and we are forever grateful for the support”.

Before the bikers took the roads back to their cities, the female bikers held a memorial run in remembrance of their female biker friend they lost last year on her way from one of their events.
