eMalahleni man shot during hijacking

Motorists are advised to mind the areas they stop in at night to avoid falling victim to carjacking.

A man was shot during a carjacking in Extension 12.

The man was on his way home on November 1, around 20:30,when he stopped his vehicle to answer a phone call.

While he was busy on the phone, a man came and opened his vehicle door, trying to snatch his car keys.

When he resisted, he was dragged out of the car, and the man’s accomplice got in the car.

One of the men fired several shots at him, hitting him in the left leg.

They left the bleeding man and fled the scene in his Land Cruiser, which was later recovered in Gauteng.

The police advise motorists to always be careful about where they stop their cars to avoid being seen as easy targets for carjacking.

“Do not answer phone calls during trips at night. If it’s urgent, drive to a safe area where it will be easy for you to get help should something happen,” said Captain Vusi Mnisi from Vosman SAPS.
