Nkangala Athletic Academy closes 2025 season on a high note

NAA athletes Lucky Tsotetsi, Hope Matshiya, Nkosinathi Skosana, and Neni Ndlovu delivered standout performances at the season-closing events, making Mpumalanga proud.

Nkangala Athletic Academy (NAA) wrapped up a milestone 2025 competitive season with a strong display across two major events this past weekend. While the senior A-team represented Mpumalanga Province at the South African 10km Championships in Bloemfontein, the academy’s junior squad delivered notable performances at the Mattafin Home Run 10km Race in Mbombela. In Bloemfontein, NAA’s top athletes rose to the occasion on the national stage. Nkosinathi Skosana led the team with an impressive 31:35, followed by Lucky Lucky Tsotetsi, who clocked 32:07. Hope Tiisetso Matshiya continued the Academy’s strong showing with a personal milestone of 32:30, while junior standout Neni Ndlovu held his own among senior athletes, finishing in 35:36.

Meanwhile in Mbombela, the Academy’s juniors maintained the winning spirit. Gugulethu Thanjwekwayo secured second place in the junior category, while Khethiwe Mlangeni claimed third place, adding yet another podium finish to her growing list of achievements.
This weekend’s results officially mark the close of Nkangala Athletic Academy’s 2025 season, a season that saw the club represent Mpumalanga Province across track and field (January to March), cross-country (April to October), and road running throughout the year.

Reflecting on the season, an NAA coach and founder, Emmanuel Mabaso, praised the athletes for their commitment and growth. “We are extremely proud of how our athletes represented both the Academy and Mpumalanga Province this year. Competing across all three disciplines and finishing the season with such strong performances shows the depth, discipline, and resilience of our team. This weekend was a fitting end to a remarkable season.”
