R555 speed hump – Sanral is doing a test run

The speed hump on the R555 was re-installed yesterday and motorists are already fed-up with the queuing traffic.

The South African National Roads Agency Limited (Sanral) has initiated a test run of a newly constructed speed hump on the R555. This trial is intended for data collection to determine whether the speed-reducing measure should be permanently installed.

Ward 20 Councillor, Maureen Scheepers, is responsible for gathering community feedback on the initiative. She is required to compile a formal report reflecting the views of all affected parties.

“Everyone affected, be it road users, businesses or residents, can share their opinion whether positive or negative, by emailing me at: complaintsward20@gmail.com,” Scheepers stated.

“If you agree with the placement, please provide your reasons so that the report remains fair, balanced, and a true reflection of the community’s input.”

Submissions, which can include supporting pictures or videos, are vital for the report.

This new ‘permanent’ speed hump follows significant controversy over a previous plastic installation erected on August 20. That previous attempt caused numerous issues, with its bolts coming loose and reportedly puncturing many vehicle tyres.
